Optinex
Optinex Tactical – Rubner wanted a planning solution for their sawmill and glulam operations



Rubner Holzindustrie is rated amongst Europe’s leading specialists for solid construction timber.
HIs operations stretches from log procurement to production of high-quality semi-finished products mainly for the timber engineering sector. Rubner is specialized on the production of machine strength-graded glulam beams and solid construction timber.
Rubner wanted a planning solution for their sawmill and glulam operations. The objective was to base the long-term planning decisions on overall profitability and in the short-term planning increase the precision in product quantity and delivery time. The solution should also seamlessly integrate with their current ERP.

Optinex provides a digital twin of the sawmill taking in consideration market demands, production capabilities and raw material supply. Optinex integrates with ERP to receive materials, demands and stock information.
The Project started with a prestudy were the scope and which modules would benefit to RHI’s goals. A high-level integration design between Optinex and RHI’s other systems was created.
The project was then performed in close cooperation between RHI and ForestX. ForestX always applies an Agil project methodology to achieve the effect goals as the project evolves.

Setra was looking for a solution for order and freight management.




Setra is a Swedish wood industry company that processes and sells wood products, specializing in sawn and refined timber. With global exports, Setra is a key player in Sweden’s forestry sector.
ForestX has a long-standing partnership with Setra, providing continuous system management as well as individual IT and digitalization projects.
Setra wanted to modernize and future-proof its systems for order management and freight calculation. The goal was to save time by streamlining workflows with a modern user interface, thereby improving efficiency and usability.
ForestX developed and implemented new functionality for order and freight management within Setra’s existing system. The solutions were tailored to meet current business needs while being designed to be technically robust for future adaptations.
Key improvements included:
• Expanded functionality, including a more efficient search feature, seamless integration, and faster access to documents.
• Customizations to match Setra’s operational requirements.
• Enhanced technical stability to support future changes.
The order management and freight calculation components of the ERP system have been migrated to a modern, web-based platform by ForestX.
The focus has been on adapting the application to current business needs and processes, while minimizing risks and ensuring maximum performance, long-term stability, and maintainability. A central goal has been to build a highly flexible solution that can be easily further developed in line with the company’s evolving needs.
Setra’s new ERP platform is built using Angular and Material Design, providing a scalable and user-friendly foundation for ongoing development.

Setra is one of Sweden’s largest wood industry companies. The company processes raw materials from the forest into sawn timber, glulam, components, and cross-laminated timber (CLT) at its eight production units across Sweden. Setra has approximately 800 employees and an annual turnover of around four billion SEK, with about 70 percent exported to markets in Europe, the USA, North Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia.
